Nature's evanescent beauty.

Seascapes, mists, moonbeams, winds, fire – in light that throbs and glows, sparkles and darkens. All is movement. Nothing is still.

My paintings are born in motion – a riot of splashing, tossing, restless color that eventually calms to harbor the drama of the flowing world.

Like music, holding a long chord.

Art and its history are the heart of my life.

From a passionate Renaissance art historian in great European cities – London, Venice, Rome, Florence – to championing cultural philanthropy as President of the Samuel H. Kress Foundation and Chairman of World Monuments Fund in New York City.

And now in the Hudson Valley, adventuring with my own paintings.
